1) Greg Heumann's new "Heumann Element" mic element. As Greg explained, this mic is similar to a ceramic element, and the A/B test I did with a CM green bullet was consistent with that output-wise. The sound quality and frequency response were very nice, and I liked it better than my ceramic element mic - more articulate to my ears. Kudos to Greg for a job well done on inventing this nice element option.

2) Nic Clark's Memphis Mini Amp. Sounded very nice and is definitely voiced as a harp amp. Feedback resistant, so much so that I could turn it up to about 11 in Nic's hotel room before starting to feed back. Also, it was very cool to be able to meet Nic as I have been admiring his playing for awhile now.

do you have a astatic 127 element in your mic
or is it a controlled magnetic?

It s like a ceramic element in tonal profile - but hotter, like a good CR. Best of both worlds.

@1847 - Yes, I have a JT30 with a 127 ceramic element, which was my main workhorse mic for several years before I started using CM elements in JT30 shells.

In hindsight, I wish I had thought of taking the Heumann Element mic to the amp room next door at SPAH and trying it out through Dennis O's Bassman - that would have provided a better test drive for me, although it was helpful of Greg to have an amp emulator of some sort set up with headphones in the vendor area.

Greg, I didn't find any information on the element on your site but I probably missed it. Price, photo if available...

Alright Greg, would I like it better than the 520D in my wood mic, and can such an element be retrofitted (and at what cost)? I am asking in public as I am sure several of your customers would be interested in supporting the new element. Best of luck!

There's no info on my site because it is still new. For NOW, the element is only available in one of my wood mics, and is offered at the same price as a single impedance controlled magnetic - which means it is included in the $279 base price of the mic. I may change that - but I'm waiting on some info I don't have yet. Experimental quantities are not the same as commercial ones!

So - sorry I can't tell you more but know that I am pursuing this.

Greg, will the Heumann Element fit other mics besides a Bullet/JT30 style? Would it fit an EV664?
