I won't go into the history or personal details of my life, but until last night my dad and I had not spoke in eight years.

What's funny is he played country and bluegrass harmonica as a hobby when I was growing up. I had no interest in harp so he didn't show me anything.

He probably influenced me subconsciously when I picked up harp a little over 7 years ago with a love for blues music.

Anyway, I saw him for the first time in 8 years last night and we started the healing process. He is 74.

I know this is Karokee but when this lady asked him to play I was delighted. Maybe what he does is pretty simple but I believe he gets what groove is about. The old folks in this video have FUN!

We talked harp later. He never had a lesson in his life. He did not know what I meant by bending. He called it choking. He has no idea what note he is playing. Didn't even know what I meant when I asked to hear his blow six. He played 1st position on a couple of bluegrass tunes but had not a clue when I said he played straight harp and cross. He simply listens and finds a harp that works by blowing and drawing and listening. He plays by feel and sound.

I hope you like. I'll show him this. He also has no idea what youtube or a harp forum is.

A huge burden has been lifted from my heart.

Good to hear that you two are talking again. Very important. As for your dads playing, I thought he did a great job of it. Good groove and simple. Best of luck to the both of you.

Hot stuff, harpdude!

My mother (87) told me a couple of years ago that "there was going to be a merger of Google, Gaga, and Wordbook."
