Simon Cowell lamented that a contestant sounded "buskerish" ...This could be interpreted in many ways.
Do buskers have their own sound and what's inherently wrong with sounding buskerish?

Good one Goldbrick. I have decided that the term is essentially meaningless. Buskers run the gamut to no-talent people who are basically begging to seasoned pros like kudzurunner. I am in between.
I've probably done it a couple of hundred times. It helps build chops, character and relationships, if not necessarily finances.
I'm with Goldbrick. I sound buskerish.

Kudos to the relaxed ambiance you guys created in that vid - very nice indeed!
I know a lot of musicians played on Maxwell Street. Is there a difference between a Street Performer and a Busker? ... This Duo are calling themselves "street performers" :)

Those two are talented singers. Is "Street Performer" a highfalutin word for "busker"? Dunno. There is a slight taint of "unemployed/beggar/homeless" when you say you are a "busker". I've been on the receiving end. Part of the character building process.

So your trying to create your own festival type atmosphere, hoping to give whoever wanders by a certain feeling by engaging their senses and curiosity?

Exactly Frank. The gig is where we make it happen.
This is us Friday night. My right arm is in a cast (cracked radius) but you gotta do what you gotta do. We had a 4-yr-old girl in her princess outfit dancing for about 20 minutes.
It was windy so recording is a bit patchy.
Cheers,
Eric

I used to not like Simon Cowell until I saw Scary Movie 3 in which he makes a guest appearance...

He is so lovable, which makes that clip so entertaining - I'm sure he walks away unscathed, hurling insults as he leaves the club?
I recently talked with a man who has spent most of his life in prison and he told me spending a lot of that time writing songs.
I asked him to lay one on me...and he sez,
I have some locked up here and pointed to his head.
After about a minute of silence he starts rappin this amazing flurry of riffs and rhymes about his life and this goes on seems like 5 minutes and he finally stops.
Looks at me and states, man I use to be really good at that when I was younger.
It's a mean old world :)

Thanks for the kind words Frank. The tales from Mr Satan's Apprentice are inspiring, of course. So is this guy, an Aussie named Juzzie Smith, who has featured in other threads as well.
Cheers, Eric
