Yeah, buddy! Luv me some Lester Butler. The man died way too young. Also, Paul Size is a monster guitarist. Story goes that to get the Red Devil's gig he sent a tape of his playing to the band to get an audition. They liked his stuff and the eventually got the gig. Turns out he tape he sent was of his friend Johnny Moeller kicking butt (now a member of the Fabulous Thunderbirds). Anyway, Lester definitely rocked the blues.

Lester was a good player. The story of how he died is really sad and it shows how screwed up drugs really do make people's thinking.

He played on billy boy's 'shake your hips' on the back where I belong album (93 I think). I study that solo from time to time. noticed he plays a couple of the same riffs in the video above.

I am a little ashamed to admit it but I only recently became aware of Lester Butler. He was gone before I even knew of him.

I don't know if his drug OD was at the end of a short spiral or an accident from recreational experimentation. Wikipedia says 2 friends were convicted of involuntary manslaughter in connection with, but makes no disrespectful reference to a debauched lifestyle. Either way, it's dangerous stuff.
