I have some extra Lee Oskars in G & D with blown reeds. Could I put different key reed plates on them to round out a back up travel set? I'm not sure if the reed length will work with the combs. Trying to save some cash on secondary harps.

If you are asking if you can just replace the reed platers on those, the answer is yes.. LO use a modular system that allows the plates to be swapped out for any key in their system.

I do know a guy that is repairing LO now.. He doesn't do forums, FB, etc.. but if you email me I can provide his contact info..

Also, if you email me, I MIGHT have some LO plates you could use.. have a few used ones ...

Greg is correct. You can put any key of plates, including the alternate tunings, on any comb. What key of reed plates do you need to fill out your second string of harps? I seldom use my LOs anymore (almost 2 full working sets not counting alternate tunings) except for occasional outdoor gigs in cool weather.

I still have some unused LO reed plates in their original packages in some keys from when LO was all I played.

If you tell me which keys you need, I will check my supply. If you need keys of LO plates that I have, I would part with them for $13 for each set plus mailing cost.

I can replace reeds on Lee Oskars, too. You get the whole harp improved, too.

Thanks guys. I knew the plates would fit. I just wasn't sure if reed length mattered. What I want to do is get a set of Bb & C major plates. On a side note, I have a pre-MS Meisterklas in G with a blown 7 blow that all I need done is have that reed replaced. I'll get a hold of one of youns shortly.

dougharps, I play mostly LO's. I too am setting up a travel case. Something that does not weigh 50 lbs...LOL... What plates do you have that you would part with. I just did a deal with Greg for complete LO's so I have spare frames. My Email is--- Gerstka at Verizon dot net. Thanks BN

Lee Oskar reed plates are so reasonably priced that reed replacement for the purpose of repair is hardly worth the trouble. Now, if you want to move reeds around for some alternate tuning.., that's another story.

I have found that sanding the back of the reed plates until the rivets are flush with the plate prevents destroying the tip of your de-riveting tool. On one occassion I think I used a Dremel tool to grind a rivet flush with the plate. I have shelved the reed moving experiments for the time being. It was just too time consuming.

@Thieven...I never intended to replace just the reed of the LOs. For those I am getting the plates. What I am having just the reed replaced on is my pre-ms Meisterklas. No big Hurry on that though. I have plenty of G harps.

Edited for typo.
