I've been getting much better control with the 3 draw and since then have been wondering what tunes, excercises, etc I should do to better fit that into my playing now that I'm broadening into much Jazzier stuff.

Thanks Guy,

Autumn leaves is nice in fourth... The river... Anything minor....? I have it easier playing in third and overblowing 6 than using the three whole tone bend as root note. It could be all in my head but I think not. :?

Try Gershwin's "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess in both 3rd and 4th.

Pistolcat, Autumn leaves keep coming up for me. A guitar player in the park reintroduced me to it, then my trombone instructor gave it to me for an exercise. I hadn't tried it on the harp as it seemed a bit chromatic.
I'll give it a try in 4th.

Another good one is "Moondance". A minor on a C harp sounds like the right key.

Steven Sondhiem's "Send in the Clowns" is a good one to practice 3 draw bends on. In 12th position it starts on a 3 draw bend. Use a Bb harp to play this Eb tune. All of the A's in the next octave up are raised to A natural(where is the natural sign on this keyboard?)so this works well on a Bb harp.

This song, along with Harold Arlen's "If I Only Had a Brain" Are great to know so you can make a musical quip if someone does something silly.

Ah, yes it's a bit chromatic. I thought you wanted "jazzier". I usually play in it in third... With the six OB... :)

It is tough to get "jazzy" without getting chromatic. Sometimes you can find pieces like the one I mentioned above where all the chromaticism can be achieved with standard bends.

I only want to learn more 4th position stuff to adapt to chord changes, I figure playing full songs will better that. Just think of it this way, if you have a song in G mixo and there is an A minor seven chord don't you wannt be able top lay in the mode of the chord?

Konstantin Reinfeld played a cool song in 4th titled "Don't Give Away." I saw him live in Germany at the Hohner Harmonica Festival in Nov 2013. He's Got some talent.

Here is a live (thought I prefer the studio)>
