Hi. It is I, Charlie Hilbert, just entering the forum to let everybody know that I'm moving back to PA and looking for gigs. I met Adam when I played in the streets of NYC with Nat. For years I played music, then I got a real job teaching at a private school (Latin, Greek, English, ESL, History), then along came budget cuts; now I'm looking for any and all gigs (guitar/bass, and I've been practicing my harmonica). Here's my thrilling promo: New York City blues legend Charlie Hilbert has played the blues for forty years - from his time in the streets of NYC with harmonica master, Nat Riddles, to his recent performances with Adam Gussow, headlining MUNDHARMONIKALIVE in Klingenthal, GERMANY, and teaching and playing at HILL COUNTRY HARMONICA in Oxford, Miss.

“A major part of the New York City Blues scene for nigh on two decades”– Blues Life Journal, Austria

“The most versatile guitarist I know” - Len Kunstadt, Pres. Spivey Records

“One of the best slide guitarists in New York City”- harmonica virtuoso Bill Dicey

“Charlie is…a major talent…He’s a natural-born showman, happy to razzledazzle.” – Adam Gussow (Modern Blues Harmonica)

“You are the greatest guitar player I have ever heard!” – A patron full of good cheer, but very perceptive nevertheless

Nominated Best Blues Harmonica Player by the Lehigh Valley Blues Society

Runner-up (duo with Johnny Bishop) in the Granite State Blues Challenge

Charlie has opened for:
James Cotton
Duke Robillard
B.B. King
Sonny Rhodes
Blues Traveler
Crosby, Stills, and Nash
Maria Muldaur
Nazareth
Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials
And probably some other bands that he can’t remember right now.

He has played these festivals:
Hill Country Harmonica in Mississippi
Mundharmonikalive in Klingenthal, Germany
Blues 2000 Festival
Long Island Blues Fest
Syracuse Blues Fest
Blues, Brews, and Barbeque, Allentown, PA
Musikfest, Allentown, PA
Mayfair, Allentown, PA
Bonita Blues Fest, Fla.
3rd Annual Riverside Blues & BBQ Festival, Greenfield, MA
And probably some others that he can’t remember right now.

And hundreds of clubs, including:
Club Atlantis in Basil, Switzerland
Grand Café in Lausanne, Switzerland
Lone Star Roadhouse in NYC
Manny’s Car Wash in NYC
Dan Lynch’s in NYC
Warm Daddy’s in Philly
Etc.

He has recorded on the prestigious Spivey Label and on the Modern Blues Harmonica Label, as well as on some other independent labels, and his latest release “Righteous Blues” on his own “Casbah” label.

Welcome aboard, Charlie! I'm delighted that you're here. And blues players in Pennsylvania--blues harp players, certainly--should be happy that you'll soon be back in town.

I still remember when we drove out and did this thing at a local PA TV studio:

Hey Charlie, didn't you used to play with Seth Holtzman down around Philadelphia?
