What do you believe are the top 3 embouchures used by harmonica players around the world...
And what do you think is the #1 most used, then 2nd most used and lastly 3rd most used?
1. 2. 3.
Thank you for your kind participation in this unscientific poll and may the great spirit be with you always and a day :)

Only a rookie bartender would make that mistake, everyone knows they are two completely different alcoholic drinks :)

Well heck, since you include harmonica players from around the world which includes about any genre of music....I would say..
1. TIE between Lip Purse and Lip Block
2. U-Block
3. Tongue Block (this one commonly used by blues harp players) ---------- www.facebook.com/catfishfryeband

I expect U block is the least common of the 3 (4?) named so far.

I have been playing since 1968,and have been using T.B. and L.P. from the get go.But i got into this along the way,i cover only the bottom half of the reed hole with my tongue,on the notes 5 to 10,itgives me more air control and speed.does any one else use this approach on harp... also,i talked with Carry Bell long ago and he said he did he did fast high note runs like this ?

Whoa---these results are astounding, what does this tell us about the future of harmonica playing and players alike?

So you agree that the U-block is the least common, can that be accurate or are these poll numbers the result of fraudulence and skewed prejudice?

But...I continue to use various screwdrivers as not only pry bars, but scrapers, pointers, letter openers.

At the Ripley's Museum in New York City they have a display that states that the ability to bend your tongue into a U is genetic and not everyone can do it(I can't). The provide a mirror and encourage you to try and see if you can dot it. When you get near the end of the exhibit you are brought behind the same mirror where you find out it is a one way mirror and you watch others making idiotic faces, you wonder who was watching you as you stuck your tongue out at the mirror!

How many embrochures does it take to play a Mozart concerto? Ponder this question and see if you don't come out the other end a better harp blower :)

In my case it is skewed prejudice based on my lack of ability with other techniques.

I just looked up one Mozart concerto, a clarinet concerto and I can say that at least 4 embouchure are required, for the flautti, faggotti, corni and claranitto. the other 5 instruments in the score are strings and will not require an embouchure.
I will follow Franks advice give the clarinette part a try on the harp.
Frank always seems to inspire me to look things up and I found that embouchure is a French verb with the following meanings;
1.to place one's lips against the mouthpiece of a wind instrument 2.to place the bit in a horse's mouth 3.(informal) to tell off, to antagonize 4.(reflexive, informal) to argue
The second one may have more relevance to my playing than I might like to admit.

Last person to follow my advise swallowed a mason jar full of bumble bees to help sing his high notes better and put grass seed in his smoothie hoping to grow a thick head of green hair... God help you 58 :)

Frank, it is starting in that direction. I printed out the score and its 58 pages! However, i have already found some passages that lay out well on the harp and I might use them busking. Other parts will have to wait until I learn the Chrome or get my overblows down better.

I'd offer you more bad advice on the Chrome and OBs but you have your hands full enough already...
