Chester Burnett, better known as Howlin' Wolf, the scariest man ever to take the stage, was born on June 10th 1910. Want More on Howlin' Wolf Click Here; http://www.allaboutbluesmusic.com/howlin-wolf-chester-burnett/ Wolf had a voice like gravel, but capable of a falsetto whoop or a pained animal cry, always delivering his Blues with awesome power. ---------- www.facebook.com/catfishfryeband

I had the privilege of seeing him a few times before he passed away and at the time, he was on kidney dialysis and had to be seated on the bandstand and could only have ice cubes (if you know what you have to go thru if you're dealing with that, like I did, you would understand why).
The first night I saw him, he did an encore of Smokestack Lightning and he called back about 35 years where he was crawling on the stage on all fours and howling like freaking crazy.
He had the single baddest harp tone I've ever heard ever. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte

The secret to that vibrato is first to get some breathing exercises from a good vocal coach, and that means learning how to truly physically relax, proper use of your diaphragm (which most harp players never learn how to use at all), but the biggest single secret is learning how to slow the speed of the vibrato WAAAAAAY, WAAAAY down, and that's the hardest part of all. Took me several months to master it. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte

Can't imagine anyone ever taking their eyes of him during a show. What a presence! When I first started playing a few years back I didn't se the big deal about his harp playing, but now, even in a youtube video, I can tell it was full, rich, powerful and filled the room. Confidence he did not lack. Thanks Bob for your insights. ---------- www.facebook.com/catfishfryeband

He had the single, most bad ass harp tone I ever heard and didn't need any amp at all for that. The big, slow vibrato is a lot more difficult to cop than you think it is. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
