What's the word on this mic? I see that its frequency response goes higher than the standard JT30/Green Bullet ones. Other than that, it's a crystal mic, which is good, and it's small and light, which scores points with me.

So, what do you think, is the Shure Slim X 777 a good harp mic?

Terrible harp mics. I've tried two. So much high end they sound really shrill.

They also come in dynamic versions as well as crystals and some of them are pretty cool.

A buddy of mine back in Chicago, Martin Lang uses one of those things and he makes it sound completely bad ass. It sounds great through a Blues Junior. He is one of those players that sounds great through anything.

Those crystals may have been on their last legs because any crystal can wear out not just from banging around, but also from body heat and room temperature as well.

I ran across a video of a guy using one, and to me it sounded just fine. So, I bought it, cheap too.

I bought couple some time back, crystals were on their way out. My biggest complaint was the size though, really tiny.

@rbeetsme: MY problem is that I have small hands. I can handle the JT30 alright, but I've always been on the lookout for a smaller microphone. This one may work, and it may not. I guess I can always sell it again.

I received the 777 today, and hey! This thing is alright. It's comfortable for my small hands, fits nicely into the natural opening between the two hands in the cupped position. It's loud, too, and it sounds great through my amp. I need to get a new cable for it; the one it came with is far too short.

$50 for a nice little harp mic isn't bad at all.

This mic sucks. Why did I buy it? After a few days I've come to realize that it's uncomfortable to hold, it doesn't have enough boost and it doesn't sound all that great.

So, I have a Shure Slim X 777 crystal microphone dated December 1955 for sale. $50.00 to the first buyer.
