Stumbled onto this today, the Pulmonica, never heard of it. Not much real information about the harp either. What is it? A chord harp?

No... Just a harmonica as far as I can tell. There is another harp developed by a Canadian doctor that is a small chord made by seydel

The Pulmonica is a harmonica developed by a gentleman named Dana Keller and built BH Seydel. I met Dana at both SPAH 2012 and 2013. As it so happens, he lives in Sarasota, FL which is about 50 miles south of where I live. After SPAH lash summer I sat next to him on the plane ride home from St. Louis and we had a lengthy conversation about the Pulmonica. It is tuned so that you can play the I, IV, V chords without any bending. Just by breathing in and out one can quickly learn to play along with most of the rock music from the 60's & 70's. It is indeed a respiratory therapy device. Dana's mission is to obtain obtain approval by the FDA and have an insurance code assigned to it which would enable doctors to prescribe it to their patients and have the cost covered by health insurance. It is a pretty clever idea. And by the way, there is another active thread going on right now about inventing a theoretical New Harmonica. Rather than go through the trouble of reinventing the wheel Dana simply paid Seydel to build it to his specifications using the existing Blues Session chassis. ---------- Tom Halchak www.BlueMoonHarmonicas.com
