Years ago I bought a 12A150-O from a forum member, installed it in an amp, and found it had dreadful cone cry when I played harp to it. With guitar it seemed ok, but I don't play guitar through an amp much and when I do it's usually a small amp.
I forgot about the speaker. I particularly forgot that it was in the particular amp. I went through a period where that amp was unused and I half-heartedly tried to sell it. I could get no takers even at $160, so I just kept it for emergencies.
Lately I've been using the amp for band practice and I've even been gigging with it because I'm too lazy to lug my 410 to practice and small rooms.
And, I've been really happy with the amp. I figured I must've worked out how to adapt to various amps.
Tonight I was sorting out my spare preamp tubes and became curious about what I had in this amp. When I opened it up, I noticed the weber.
Long story sorry...anyway, the thing is I've been playing the amp for the last couple months and been really happy with it's performance for harp and vocals. No sign of that cone cry I heard before.
It's totally mysterious to me. What could've changed while the amp sat doing nothing for 18 months or more?
I've been bagging 12" weber. I take it all back. I really like this speaker. But I don't understand.
