I have an Astatic 200 with a ceramic element and it has a good tone but is about half of the volume of my Electrovoice mics and a JT30 with a white label cr. Should it be replaced or is that their nature and use it when I want to crank up an amp?

My ceramic is not quite as hot as my CM and R7 but it opens up a little later. I like it. The overall spectrum of tone is pretty evenly balanced. Unless it is really a lot less I would go ahead and use it.

I have a NOS vintage turner ceramic. It's a tad lower in volume compared to the CM elements and EV RE 10 but it does have nice tone.

I see where both of yours are a tad lower. Mine is a lot.

Hondo - there are 3 possible explanations:

1 - the element is dying. This is, unfortunately, the most likely
2 - the input impedance of the amp is unusually low. Does this happen with multiple amps?
3 - you're using a volume control with too-low impedance. Try taking it out of the circuit and see if that helps.

If 2 and 3 don't explain it, it's number 1.
