Hey guys, here is a tune I wrote with John Schroeder...it's a tribute to the great Peter "Madcat" Ruth. It's from our new record "High Noon" which you can find at http://thesheriffsofschroedingham.bandcamp.com/album/high-noon. Enjoy!

Ross that opening riff at 7 secs is tuff - it sounds like your saying bullshit, bullshit, bullshit, bullshit, bullshit, bullshit, bullshit? And that electric harp outburst at 2:45 is a hot tamale.

Here is a layering I did about jumpin trains and hoboin - the fat train horns are done with a low harp and echo.

Ha! All my riffs involve me saying bullshit, bullshit, bullshit! You've figured out the key to my style!
On a more serious note, Frank, I really appreciate you taking the time to check out the track in such detail and to share your music as well! I'll have a few more for you in the next few weeks...

Thank you Ross for honoring Madcat - he is well deserving of any and all praise going his way. And thank you for letting me share some of my musical folly in this thread...Next to your playing I am seen for the dilettante that I am :)

Has Madcat heard the tune yet and did you use "jawharp" at all? And what exactly are all the instruments and such used to get all the sounds for that song?

Here is the link to the full CD :)

No, no jaw harp---I'll have to pick one up though as I'll be playing the harmonica part for Big River for a month in Montana this summer and the book calls for it...
We used just dobro and harmonicas on this one. Albeit some beatbox harmonica, a few low tuned diatonics, and both bass and chord harp, as well as some effects. That's the line up!

Nice work gents. Ver interesting stuff. Sounds like you have a one-man party going on Frank! Do I hear a little Son of Dave influence in yours, Ross?

Thanks BronzeWailer!
I'm not too familiar with Son of Dave---I suppose there's a wide influence to my playing, but with this piece I was really thinking of Madcat's "Harmonicology" record. Is there anything in particular by Son of Dave I should check out?
Thanks!

That deserves nothing less than "Oh Wow". This is a nice harmonica construction, Ross, a first rate composition for blues harp and slide guitar. I assume John Schroeder is the guitarist, and a wonderful one he is at that; your rhythmic chugging, wailing, and fleet runs and sonic bursts fit his nimble, guick witted grooves on the slide. Well done, and please post more. Thanks for the inspiration/
