My cousin is a drummer. He was in Trade Center #2 when the plane hit on 9/11. From there, he re-evaluated his priorities, and put more time into his drumming, which he has been doing since 1974. He called me tonight, just before I was about to go onstage in Charlotte, NC. He's in Houston, and is drumming for Duke Robillard and James Cotton tonight. He called me just before he went onstage because I would appreciate the enormity of what he was doing. GO JUNGLE BOY JEFF!!!

Awesome is right. Congratulations to him.

Jerry Porter and Kenny "Beedy Eyes" Smith IMHO are arguably the best two blues drummers out there right now. Jerry can really lay down a groove.

I've known Duke for decades. He's one of the most versatile and knowledgeable guitarists on the planet.

My cousin called me tonight to tell me about the gig. He said James was one of the nicest guys he's ever met. He sat with my cousin put his arm around him, and told him Sonny Boy Williamson stories. Duke is notoriously critical and demanding of his drummers. But after the show, he came up and give my cousin a big hug. I'm glad everything went well for him.

Duke isn't the only pro who is that way about drummers because most of the old black bluesmen I've met over the years were that way with drummers because it's salways about the groove and if the drummer sucks, the band is also gonna suck no matter how good the lead guys are.
