Hi,
I was jut playing whit my mic and amp. This is the first time that I use my 99b86CM mic since my last rehersal, where the mic fall to the floor, but it worked fine after that.
Now it has less output. How do I know this? because before I use the VC on my Epiphone VJR 1/4 of the way to get a distorted sound. now I need to put the VC 3/4 to get that sound.
I tested whit another mic, an Akai DM13 and is not the amp.
is this mean that the element is dying? or can be something else?

check to see if the wiring is loose or if the element got moved out of its housing.

it could be damaged. Someone mentioned they had a CR which was behaving strangely, but that was more an intermittent thing. Still, BarleyNectar was getting down to some mechanical issues there. I reckon it could be such an issue If you've eliminated the amp, the cable, connectors, BJM's suggestion about gasket and placement of element, wiring...does it have a volume control btw?...start looking at the element itself. Is there any foreign matter impeding it's movement, is everything still put together properly. If it's taken a knock but was working ok straight after, I think it's still possible something came loose and has subsequently moved...

Hi,
I just check the cable joints, and they seem fine.
Yes, it has a VC.
The element looks good (I think)
I did another test against my dm13, and whit that mic I can get volume and tone whit the volume in les that 1/4 on the amp, but whit my cm mic, I need to put the volume on 3/4 to get some volume, but not a good tone.
I can says this 100% sure, but I dont hear bass whit my cm mic. Is just like all mids. I cant asure this, because I dont have another cm to compare side to side, but whit my best seal cup and a MB in A there is no bass.
What I cand do?
I dont live in the US.

Can you post photos? That might make a few things clear, or eliminate some questions. Greg H is probably the guy most likely. Volume controls can cause problems. Even silly stuff like slippage of the knob on the shaft of the pot, when a grub screw comes loose. But a pot can fail in various ways. No 'scratchiness'? No spare shell or spare element you can swap? What about a resistor or capacitor wired in to the mic on the element or VC? Can you access the forums on bluesharmonica.com? There is a mic forum where Greg H, and previously the late Fritz Hasenpusch, have answered many questions about CM mics. I think the forums are free to read and search.

All good comments above. Yes, take the volume control out of the circuit and re-test. If it isn't that, it is most likely the element itself. ---------- *************************************************** /Greg
