There is plenty of place in the world for good piano players regardless of gender.

That piece would fit well in the "groove" thread. I really appreciated the dialog between the pianist and the 'phones player. The pianist was making eye contact even though she had to look over her shoulder. She kept the bass line going ad added little quotes from the 'phones solo. Very skillful

I came to the conclusion, listening to frank zappa, that can't take any band seriously unless that have at least 1 song with a 2 minute xylophone solo, their's is only 1min 48 seconds so they can't be that great ;)

Sadly Jane Vasey passed away at the age of 32, a victim of leukemia. The Downchild Blues Band must be one of the best blues bands to come out of Canada, or even anywhere, of their generation. There's some great video of them "Live at the Forum", but I can't find it on Youtube...

Apologies for the cheesy graphics with this track, hopefully the music speaks for itself, this is from the Jane Vasey/Hock Walsh era...

In the last tune, no piano anymore...
Do you think it's kind of a tribute to Jane if they skip the piano?

Hi Laurent2015,

Jane was in the band ('73-'82) when Straight Up was recorded.
