The inimitable Rahsaan Roland Kirk limiting himself to flute (he sometimes played 3 horns at once): This is what was bending my ear when I was 17. I still come back to it.
(And notice the harp-player's tricks he uses, like the one note that lasts several verses, talking during phrases between notes, gasping in a sexy way.)

@JustFuya Ian Anderson picked up Roland Kirk's Serenade to a Cuckoo and included his version on an early Jethro Tull album (Anderson also played a little second position harp on some of the early Tull recordings). It's how I first found out about Rahsaan.
