John Németh's new soul album Memphis Grease is being released today and he's touring to promote it, backed by The Bo-Keys, producer Scott Bomar's band of Memphis studio veterans. I saw them Sunday and was blown away by Németh's tasty harp playing, clever songwriting, and soulful vocals.

And the band was great, particularly vocalist Percy Wiggins and drummer Howard Grimes who between them have nearly a century's studio experience.

If you like Memphis soul (and how can you not?) go see them when they play near you.

I heard them this week at Jazz Alley in Seattle and it was a great show! I would have liked to hear a little more harp, but the band was clean and tight, and the vocals from both Nemeth and Wiggins were top rate!
