If you stumble across one of these I highly recommend you get one, if you like dynamics of course. Big tone. High Z and very allround. Sounds good through amps and PA ... played cupped it break things up just the way I like it ... and played open it has a warm, natural acoustic sound. Very nice.

Anyone else out there play these?

Some of those older Japanese mikes make for excellent harp mikes. The Akai DM 13 is a great example. Not all are good though so it can be a bit of a crap shoot. I got an Akai dm 40 for 10$ a while back and it is not good at all.For 10 bucks it was worth a try.

So many players gravitate to a certain few mics that these have gotten very pricy. There are a LOT of good harp mics out there. It also depends on the amp used and the players taste. I say, try everything you can get your hands on. You just never know what will work out for you...BN
PS, those mics are sharp...

The DM 13 is my main mic and I'm glad they aren't popular! I have one that was like new when I got it and the other is NOS in the box. The top picture mic on the left looks like it might be hard to get a good cup with, but the other two look like they would good mics. They sure look cool as hell! Do you have the original paper work that was sold with them. If so it will show the frequence response. I'd love to see that if you don't mind uploading it?

chrom.blues ... I've got a couple orig. boxes. I'll see if I find any spec.papers in there. Your 're right about the (DM-48) on the upper left. It is big and massive. I use that one on a stand through the PA via a line box for an acoustic sound (plus backup) or through an amp but still played open. Warm and round tone, with some prox.effect when needed. The other ones (DM-47) beats any mic I 've tried so far, when it comes to both Chicago and Delta. Cupped 'n compressed and open, warm and clean. I used to play 57s and 545s for years but have been playing these more and more now for the last couple of years, so the feel is somewhere in that ballpark, but warmer and ballsier. I'll quit rambling now and come back with some specs if I find any.
