Anyone have any experience playing harp through an iRig or the Apogee JAM Guitar Input into some of the amps modeled on GarageBand or AmpliTube?

I primarily play acoustically and have only messed around a very little bit with electric harmonica playing. I think my acoustic playing drives the neighboring tenants crazy enough the way it is, so I was thinking maybe using my Mac or iPod Touch to pursue some of these options might be a fun way explore a bit of the electric harmonica world without adding volume. I'm I nuts?

Any insight would be appreciated!

I tried it but it just didn't seem to work out right..
I'm not a techo genius.. (Well.. any kind of genius) but
my experience using iRig wasn't that great.... I think it has to
do with powered/non-powered input.. but what do I know

So it may not be as simple as plugging in a bullet mic and going to town, huh?

I recently got an irig mic and vocalive ios app on sale. I've been using these along with the 4 track recorder (in app purchase) to practice and add harmonica to backing tracks. Great range of effects. Have only used with headphones and not output through amp but expect it would work well. REALLY impressed.

I use an iRig and amplitude in conjunction with my mic and iPad into my special 6 amp. It sounds great and you can play backing tracks into the amp and experiment with a whole range of different pedals at the same time. I'm surprised more people don't play around with it because it's awesome fun.

I have used peavey's ampkitlink and the app ampkit both with an sm57 and a vintage bullet. I think the sound is ok. There's a bit of tweaks necessary with gains in the app bit nothing hard. I created a topic a while back called harmonica iPhone or something like that. (I'm on my phone right now and don't have time searching and copying at the moment)

I have done the final mixing in audacity.

Here's a vid with the bullet mic.

Here's the 57. (Heavy with effects). http://youtu.be/UhxkUvVaVUg

A lot of my YT is recorded through my iPhone. Feel free to check it out. The app "ampkit" is very easy to use and handle, IMO.

I found the iRig stomp works pretty well. Only thing is you get drawn into buying the pedal packs and end up spending as much as what you would for a small effects processor.

You can get decent acoustic recordings with just the ipad internal mic. At least I can on my iPad 4th gen..not sure about the previous ones. I was actually shocked at how good the recording sounded. Better than my Edirol Digital.
