A few on here dabble with teaching songs or jamming to songs on YT to teach others. I don't mean just jamming to a backing track, but teaching how to play a song using an mp3 or other recording of the song to illustrate ideas.
My question - how do you do this legally and ethically appropriate? I don't play a chordal instrument, but would like to teach rock harmonica lessons using some sort of backing tracks to illustrate points. Band in the Box could work, but it would be hard for me to learn.
While I would like to montenize, if not doing so makes it easier to do the right way, then that is fine too!
A specific example:
When the Levee Breaks by Led Zepplin
If I wanted to teach the harp part or show how to jam to it and post on Youtube, what's the right way to go about securing rights, etc? ---------- Mike My Website My Harmonica Effects Blog Rock Harmonica Lessons

I've just been through a similar scenario @HarpNinja. I wanted to create my own BT's and I bought some software (Magix Music Maker) which comes with a number of Synthesisers, drum machines and various loops which you can use to create your own tunes. The trouble is (in the smallprint) you can only use their loops in your tunes as long as it's strictly not for profit. Therefore, monetizing and using to advertise a business is a non-starter. I can however use the synthesisers etc, to create my own loops but it's a lot of work and trouble. I don't know how close this is to BIABox but the small print ties us up pretty tight.
