After many years of just playing harp at a local Sunday night jam, I have begun to sing. I would love to do a George Harmonica Smith tune called "Rocking". It is a swingin tune that will get me out of the "shuffle rut" LOL. The trouble is...I can't seem to pull all the lyrics out, and don;t want to just substitute something. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. Feel free to contact me off list.

PS...I have found it quite liberating !!

I went to Kansas City, 12th and Vine
I went do there to have me a time
I went in the front to get to the back
The first fella I met was Bartender Jack

It was Rockin'
It was Rockin'
It was Rockin'
sure havin' a wonderful time

Well the prettiest little hostess I ever seen
That's the little chick they call Earlene

She was rockin
She was rockin
She was rockin
sure havin' a wonderful time

Well one shot of vodka two shots of gin
The MC walked out and let our show begin

It was Rockin'
It was Rockin'
It was Rockin'
sure havin' a wonderful time

The crowd all yelled we're ready to go
Out walked a chick named Mary Jo
She was shakin'
She was shakin'
sure havin' a wonderful time

You have to remember to tell the band that the first set of breaks are long breaks.

She was rocking

Well one shot of vodka

Then I sure begin
They were rocking
They were rocking
They was rocking
Having a wonderful time, Play it yeah yeah yeah!

(Harp Solo)

Well the crowd all yell
Ready to go
Out walked a chick
Named Mary-joe
She was shaking
She was Shaking

Walking all over the floor, lets go!
