Lynwood Slim is a player that doesn't get much mention on here. He is a top class harp player, flute player and songwriter. For those of you not familiar with him, I urge you to check out his music. Here he is playing with Kid Ramos, Richard Innes, Larry Taylor and Henry Gray. The first number sees Lynwood playing diatonic and on the second he plays some killer chromatic. Be sure to check out Lynwood's Wah-Wah at around 3:44. You don't see many people cupping a mic like that. It's a real killer technique.

Kudos to the Rhythm Room for having a substantial grand piano on stage (looks like a Yamaha).
Now, that's class. ---------- The Iceman

Seems like they would have pitched a solo his way while he blew the diatonic. I do luv me some Lynwood Slim. ---------- Ricky B http://www.bushdogblues.blogspot.com RIVER BOTTOM BLUES--crime novel for blues fans available at Amazon/B&N and my blog THE DEVIL'S BLUES--ditto

I have often been pegged as a "Rod Piazza guy" while that certainly comes with some justification, those that really know me know I'm actually a "Lynwood Slim guy." NO ONE saw Lynwood Slim play more in 1998 and 1999. I learned a ton and of all the Blues greats I am friendly with I think I am closest to Slim. He's been dropping not so subtle hints on Facebook that I should call him. Now I think I have too.
If any white guy is looking how to be a great Blues singer without cartoonishly trying to sound Black, Slim is your template. His singing and harp player are so effortless that he hasn't gotten the acclaim he should.
Here's Slim and me way back in 99ish.

When I met him in 2007 he was bummed he lost touch with you Ryan. Life's too short. Make the call.
I only met him once. He was SO good, and is just the nicest person. ---------- 12gagedan's YouTube Channel

Yeah, Slimharp, I've got two or three of his solo albums. The man is a heckuva singer.
