Now we all know Little Walter's main influence was John Lee (Sonny Boy) Williamson.
But who were his other mainly jazz, jump and swing influences?
I'd say mainly Louis Jordan but I know there are others.

There is a reference in Tony Glover's LW bio to "Lester leaps in", so, Lester Young with Count Basie.

He also liked Louis Jordan. I heard him play an idea from a Louis Jordan sax solo almost note for note in one of his recordings.
Pity I can not remember the exact tune, but I remember "aha" feeling when I heard it, as I had just gotten into Louis Jordan like crazy and was listening to him a lot when I put on the LW record. ---------- The Iceman

My guess is on Muddy Waters' tune called Evans Shuffle. Louis Jordan influenced many players besides LW and other harp players as well as those who played other instruments as well, including BB King.
If you listen to Roller Coaster, you can hear the influence of Illinois Jacquet all over it. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
