I've been practicing at home, going to group lessons, learning from online resources (like this board) and doing a few one-on-one lessons. I go to blues jams in the area, and usually get a chance to play.
I've never been in a band, so my goal is to get into a middle aged blues band like in the Viagra commercial.
Would love to hear other people's goals for inspiration!

I've been at this a long time. 43 years or so. Granted that the first 23-25 were in dead slow mode and I made little real progress, the last couple of decades more or less have been very educational. My original goal was to play well and carry on a legacy given me by my grandfather at a very early age. The goal changed at some point, to be a part of a group and actually play a part well. My education was fairly slow, back then there was not much in the way of resources available to me. By the mid 90's I had begun to learn though, I found my way to local open mics and through that to some mentors who helped open my eyes. I have worked in several bands and duos over the past 20 years and while it's been mostly local, there have been some pretty cool high points. These days I have narrowed my involvement down to mostly working in the duo with my wife Jolene. My goal has become to not only play until I can't any more, it is also to take this duo as far as we can. Somewhere during all this I have learned my way around a harp pretty well! ---------- http://www.reverbnation.com/jawboneandjolene

@jbone I had one harmonica book as a teen in the 80's, and then nothing until I started discovering stuff online about 5 years ago. It was just me, my harp, and my records for a long time

Get really good harps, that also means to learn how to do basic work on them. Figure out these Guys: BW and JR. I (me) think everything else is on the path between them.
