Our March 8th workshop in Altamonte Springs, just north of Orlando, Florida, is five weeks from today. We've got some preregistrations, but not enough--right now--for us to go ahead with the workshop. The economics of the event require not just pre-purchase of a plane ticket for Ronnie, but payment for the venue, gas money for me (it's a long drive), and of course three rooms for three guys for two days, since I'm driving down with Alan "Blues Doctor" Gross. We won't go ahead unless those expenses are covered plus an absolute bare minimum profit, about $100 each for Ronnie and me.

Our pull-date is one week from today: Saturday, February 8th, one month out. We're doing OK, but we're not yet at the threshold. We may yet be forced to cancel and refund everybody's PayPal prepayments. That would be a shame, and would guarantee that we'd stay away from Florida for the forseeable future.

I know that Florida has a thriving blues scene, and my hope is that a few people who read this were planning on coming on day-of and will be surprised to learn that the event might not happen. If YOU are such a person, please pre-register by Friday night, February 7th.

Here's the event website. You can read all about what we'll be teaching. The evening concert will feature The Blues Doctors, Ronnie, and RJ Harman and his band:

This workshop is the best $65 any blues harp player could ever spend. The show after alone is worth it.

If one extra person will make a difference, I will show up.

Carl, if you meant "If one extra person will make a difference, I will preregister," then the answer is: absolutely. Please preregister! We're afraid that many people plan to show up on the day-of, and if too many people fall into that camp, there will be nothing to show up FOR.

You guys in the States are so lucky! I'd sign up in a flash if I could come to an event like this! Alas, opportunities are few and far between.

For this area of Florida, pre registration is key. Don't expect a crowd to just show up on the day of the event...Orlando is a tuff nut to crack.

I would hope that RJ would be working the Orlando system/blues society/media like crazy to promote the event...after all, he is your local "insider" and all it would take is a few phone calls and faxing in press releases.

Hey guys----Please Pre Register!!! I am already registered and looking forward to the event and the music that night. I want to go. If you are from out of the area, you should know that that this is the start of Daytona Bike week in the Daytona/Orlando area. Most every bar has music every night of the week for two weeks. Bands come down from all over the US. Many places the music starts at noon and runs until midnight. A fun time to be in Florida.

I singed up last week. I put up a couple of posts on FB and got a message that at least one more person has signed up.

We've had six registrations in the last two days, so things are looking a little better. I think we'll make. Believe it or not, Ronnie and I aren't money-grubbing bastards with our eyes on the bottom line. We're just not willing to lose money, or work hard for free. But I think this one is going to make, and do fairly well, and I thank those of you who have risen to the challenge.

I watched the promo video even though I am already registered. Adam, there is still time for you and Ronnie to work on your Florida Accents. You know, the "when in Rome" thing. We say Altamonte without the e. FYI other local names. Kis SIM mee, O CAL a, ,OCK la wa ha.
Saying Ocklawaha could become a lesson in good harmonica tone.
Above message all in good fun. We like northern folks.
