Hi Ugly, I'll bite. Little bit of work needed there. FWIW trying to fill 5 minutes and 45 seconds is a lot to ask of a harp player. I could detect after the first few 12 bars you were struggling to develop ideas to keep the tune fresh. I'd suggest shortening your backing track to 1.5 - 2.0 mins. max so that you don't have so much time to fill. You can then throw all your ideas in and really polish a shorter tune. You've done well and got your video out there. We all suffer nerves in front of the camera and always do our best stuff when the camera is not running. Keep at it, the only way is up.

Doesn't work for me. I would suggest scrapping the whole improv thing for now and concentrate on transcribing some simple blues vocal lines. Less is more. Like Kim Wilson said "no one wants to hear full on harmonica for 5 minutes, they'll walk out"

I think you guys are right. The original was only 2:30. This takes far too long and I ran out of ideas.I'm going to chuck it and redue it tonight. Meanwhile you might wanna check my favorites, I have a performance of another one of my originals. I also have a video called hips and happiness also on my channel. Those were pretty good.

Hey Ugly! I notice you've taken the video down from YT. Keep it and come back to it in the future. It's the only way you'll judge your progress. I have a lot of mine and I squirm when I watch them now but it's worth doing.

Vid is down, but without even watching, you could play a 100 years and never have to carry a full song improving on your own.

Always think in terms of playing a verse or two...jamming like that is good for practice maybe, but not very practicle in application. I took me a long time to realize that. People will get more out of 1-2 well played turns then throwing stuff out for five minutes.

Always leave people wanting more.

I still have the video for myself but the original is down. I think you guys think a little low of improvising though. Granted, I did it for waayyyy too long on the original version but on the videos that are up now I only did for like 12-24 bars. Jamming adds something to a live performance written music simply can't do.

I don't think low of improvising. That's all I do. I don't know any blues tunes note for note and don't try to. I think improvising is the way to go but it has to be good. Watch some of Frank's stuff.
