I don't know anything about cabinets and would like to know if this one, that a friend made for me, is a good one. How about closed back vs. open back? I would like to put 1 10" speaker in this one and purchase another cabinet for two 10's. Do you have advice for buying the cab for the two 10's?
I was leaning towards a Lil Buddy for the 1x10 and would also like to hear which ones you would pair together for the 2x10 cab. THANKS

I thought about it, but decided that my comment would amount to 'I don't know', which seemed superfluous.
It looks ok to me.
Re speakers, I don't know enough to make recommendations. I only know those I have tried, and it's all so interactive and relative I wouldn't presume I could recommend anything...except my 1 piece of advice, which ONLY relates to 12"s is to avoid webers. Probably not that usefull to you?
I like my weber 10", and my weber 8"...but you know...what do I know? (Not much!)

The cabinet pictured looks to be quite well built and barring something I don't know should suffice.

Open back vs closed back. I would most certainly vote open back. Never liked closed back cabs for anything except bass and PA.

Not familiar with the Lil Buddy but I've seen lots of folks on the forum swear by them.

2x10? I'm a fan of Webers of any size, though I prefer vintage Jensens above anything, even reconed if the work was done by someone respected. Do not like the reissue Jensens much although they are not a bad speaker. There are just better alternatives.

In recent years there has been a trend to mixing speakers ex. and 8" and a 10" or one ceramic and one alnico. In both the Super Crunch and Avenger I know the mixing works a treat. I generally prefer alnico for harp although there is one Weber Feromax in the Avenger which kicks some serious tone butt but again I think that is in combination with a bunch of weber alnicos of different sizes.

RE: Weber, I don't like their Signature series much at all, though again some people love them. They're supposed to be a replacement for the small magnet speakers found in a lot of small vintage amps. If you go the next grade up the 10A100 or 10A125 you loose a little of the nastiness of the cheaper speaker but gain volume and warmth and still retain plenty of the wanted crunch. I swapped out the CTS in a Kalamazoo Model 1 for a Weber 10A100. Yes it changed the nature of the classic Zoo sound but greatly increased the subjective quality of the sound. I used that amp a lot, even gigging with a pretty loud band and never had a problem hearing myself. I was actually asked to turn it down more than once and that's not because I'm a crap player.

I've got 2 cabs with the 2x10 Lil'buddy/Eminence Legend speaker combo. One of them is in a Mission Harp Amps Chicago 32-20, and the other is in a tweed cab I put together myself and play a Masco ME18 through. They both sound great, with nice breakup. Both cabs took some breaking-in before the tone came up to the sound I have now, which I really like.

I got the speaker combination recommendation from Rick Davis and Bruce Collins. I've had lots, and lots of comments about how good this setup sounds when I'm playing gigs.
