So ... I've got a Double Trouble ... Nice amp ... But it's humming ... Like a bumble bee ... The line out hums to .., gets better with a line box with a ground lift. I know harps ... but amps is an unwritten chapter in my book. The (idle) humming doesn't change when I turn up the volume and tone. It's some where in the lower Hz-register. Is there an (easy) fix for this? I've swapped some tubes but the humming remains.

There can be a LOT of reasons for hum. But you own an amp made for harp by someone who actually cares. I suggest you contact Brian Purdy for help. He knows his amps the best. ---------- *************************************************** /Greg

Yes Brian has been very accessible,Gregs advice is spot on the money.I have hg50 and started swapping preamp tubes,I have a heavy handed tendency to force things, snap, crackle, pop, developed big time hum.
Took it to a old time amp medic,he fixed saying the ceramic head sockets for the preamps, can short out faster, replaced with old time metal ones-both.Not cheap, but reasonable, happy to have it back.If under warranty super,if you don't know your way around bring er in.
My medic really liked the amp,and is a guitar player, enjoyable experience, maybe yours is simpler yet,but don't f%5k with unknowns.

Make an audio recording of it to send him and then ask Brian Purdy for advice. He is an extremely helpful man and will point you in the right direction. If you have an amp tech, Brian will probably even work with him if necessary to get to the bottom of the problem.

Check your cords and mic first. I've had the same problem with bad connectors

Oh yeah, the Double Trouble is a great little amp. I had one of the early ones. Killer tone and pretty darn loud for it's size. I also had an HG 50. Wow what a monster amp. Head room for ever.
