New recording released Dec, 2013.
Listened to a few cuts last night.
It's a live recording, so captures an essence of Charlie that, to me, was always missed via studio recordings.
His position playing is constantly entertaining. Charlie will use all three octaves of the harmonica in extended linear ideas more so than most.
It sounds somewhat joyous and adventuresome to my ears, as if he has a ball finding new ways around the harmonica.
I also enjoy his singing more on the live recording.
I've called him the Miles Davis of the diatonic a few times over the years. Like Miles, he constantly surrounds himself with younger musicians, is not afraid to experiment outside of the one genre and seems to be constantly evolving. ---------- The Iceman
