A long time ago I quickly threw all the info I had on John Popper's rig into a blog for those scouring the web.
Well, after the effects thread last week, I went and looked at it. I realized I hadn't been keeping up with it, so I quickly uploaded a few more things relative to harmonica and effects. I am hoping to keep up with it for a bit and post sound samples ASAP.

Thank you, this is very useful.
Though I´m "financially challenged" (dirt poor, they used to say) and very far from being able to acquire many of these gadgets a few of them are on my wish list.
But there´s one thing that strikes me, almost throughout your sound samples: I tend to hear a somewhat sharp "edge", a sort of persistence in the treble region, the sound is "framed" in a hard way. (Sorry for the lack of descriptive power here, and it´s not only a foreign language thing but plain linguistic ignorance on my part; I wouldn´t do it any better in Swedish.)
I wonder if this is something you want, or an accidental by-product?
That different players prefer different things is completely uncontroversial, but that´s good to know.
My own ideal sound goes to the clean as well, but perhaps a bit ... warmer (Lee Oskar minus some 16 pedals -- more what he sounds like on his records, not live) than what you present here, though there are touches of it, esp. in the more breathy, lower notes that crops out now and then and that´s really great.
Could also be a question of what kind of music we play -- I have an impression that you´re more into, well "rock", and perhaps it comes with a somewhat harder sound?
If you get what I´m after -- is this something you strive for, or is it accidental?

Martin,
I definitely use more treble than a blues harp player. I want a clean tone that isn't ice pick, but clear. I want an overdrive sound that is crunchy, not overly compressed.
The more I experiment with recording and play back, the more I get away from overly compressed sounds. So much blues harp is either mid heavy or very dark. Neither is appealing to me.
Almost all my clips end up with something analog in line before hitting my desktop unit (which is digital). For example, all the Tech 21 stuff is analog. The Zoom G5 hits a 12ay7 before hitting the board.
I spent some time this past week really listening to things and have found that the only item I really regret getting rid of is the G5 as it provided the perfect clean platform. ---------- Mike My Website My Harmonica Effects Blog

Thank you, Mike.
Then I was sort of on the right track: there´s an intention behind it.
I´m terribly primitive and haven´t really understood the mechanics behind compression (I´ve tried adding it to recorded stuff in Audacity -- can´t hear any notable difference) -- but that Tech 21 things looks interesting, though they aren´t exactly shy in the price department ...
