little Rick...that may be the first selfie ever to grace MBH - you got that glazed look like you were just at the 7/11 for some gas and a bag of reefer - It must be freezin, I can tell you tried to smile but it froze before you made it fully there...Or did you just take a hit of a spliff and your holding it in? ....Sunny and cold here in PA :)

Vaporizer, baby... And I ain't talking about Vick's, ya know what I'm sayin'?

Shoveled the sidewalk and driveway, then walked the doggies at Cherry Creek State Park where this photo was taken. Yesterday was bike-riding weather in shorts. Gotta love Colorado.

Man the weather is really nasty for all y'all east of the Rockies. Here in Northern CA we have the opposite problem. It is TOO nice. Temps in the 60's and even 70's, but the lowest rainfall on record, ever. And they started keeping records in the mid 1800's. We have a serious drought, maximum fire danger, agriculture problems...... The state produces nearly half of all US-grown fruits, nuts and vegetables. (source: http://www.cdfa.ca.gov/statistics/)

Cherry Creek...A buddy of mine broke his neck when he dove into the resavoiur. Not knowing what was wrong with him, we carried him up over the limestone rip rap and took him by car to the USAF Wolferd med center. Man, one slip and he would have been paralyzed...I about passed out when they told us. Forntunatly, he recovered. That was in 1974. Lowery AFB. We had a blast in Denver. Great City...BN

@ Greg Yeah, same situation in San Diego, maybe worse than in the North.
This week, however, I am in Cancun (we just got in tonight), and it's rainy and warm--maybe cooler than usual, but it's 80 tomorrow.

It looks very cold there Rick. Although I'm sure it just makes the scenery look even more beautiful than usual.

Nick, It's always sad to hear of loss of life due to inclement weather. Sadly though successive UK Governments have failed to address the problems of weather extremes. We need to be far better prepared for these types of thing. Especially as we are most likely going to see more and more of this type of thing due to climate change. Interestingly enough in the North West we haven't had anymore rain than usual for this time of year. The problem seems to more in the South West.

Gales off the Southern Ocean here. King of the Derwent was cancelled: too much wind for the blue water racing fleet which just came down from Sydney.

Its not so common at this time of year, but not especially uncommon. if November is unsettled, seems calm settled summer weather doesn't arrive until February, just in time for Autumn!

North Central Florida, right now it's 52 with 97% humidity... Should get up into the mid 70's today. The other day it was down into the 20's with high humidity.

I miss that dry Colorado cold. Lived in Denver (Highlands Ranch, Littleton, Englewood). Then I moved to Steamboat. I don't know where they record the weather temps out there. I lived there for four years and every winter there was a good solid two weeks where my thermometer outside would be around -38 in the morning on my way to work.

Colorado, 30's no wind and the sun is shinning, short sleeve T-shirt weather.

North Central Florida, 30's no matter the wind or sun, you don't want to go outside for long... It sucks.

Here is my yard as seen from the street (Nova Scotia Canada). Coldest December in decades...last year this time the grass was green! We haven't seen the asphalt for weeks.

This photo was taken after I shoveled 3 to 4 ft of snow off the my porch roof and garage. I also had ice dams on the roof causing leaks which is first in more than 20 years.

I consider myself fortunate as lots of near by communities have had power outages that lasted more than a week.
