I'm playing my first school concert on harmonica in six days. I'm playing a piece that I wrote. Any advice?

If you make a mistake just keep going, no one will notice.

Keep time, tap your foot.

TAKE A BOTTLE OF WATER ON STAGE WITH YOU!– Nerves can cause a dry mouth and this is a nightmare for harmonica players. I learned this the hard way :)

Have fun!

After the performance lots of people will come up to you and tell you how great you were. You, on the other hand, will be thinking about all the mistakes you made. Your natural tendency will be to say "no, it wasn't very good ... I made mistakes ... I can do better ... I was nervous ... etc". Forget that! Smile and say thanks and accept the compliments. You will always be your own worst critic. No one else notices the mistakes.

All the above is very great advice. I would add, to say in the mirror every day before with as much meaning as you can give, "I don't give a shit." And try to believe it ;)

And play the piece as many times as you can before. Preferably in front of others or at least out in the public somewhere where you can be heard.

There is no way to avoid the first concert/performance in front of people.

Don't sweat it (easier said than done).

You will learn a lot through this experience.

Once you get that first time out of the way, everything that follows gets easier.
