Well it’s rare to get much harp on UK TV let alone nigh on the Weekend Primetime slot.

Here’s a couple of gospel songs by Paul Jones (formerly of Manfred Mann) singing and playing some pretty tasty licks on the harp.

Gotta love the sound of that Marine Band. Reminds me a little of JJ Milteau.

You Gotta move:-written by Mississippi Fred McDowell and Rev. Gary Davis.

People get ready:-A Curtis Mayfield Composition

Nothing wrong with the harp, but that rendition of "You gotta move" is provocatively un-subtle.
Paul J has an annoying tendency towards speeding things up to a cheery, sprinting tempo that effectively drowns the poetry in the blues.
A pity, ´cause he seems such a likable guy.

The whole tv programme that this is from is on the bbc iplayer- not sure if this is accessible outside the uk. The programme is "Songs of Praise". For what it's worth; I really enjoy Paul's work

@ SBS Yes, I don't think iplayer is available in the US which is why I have posted these couple of songs from 'Songs' of praise' so that our American buddies could listen to Paul. He still sounds good to me.

I will remove these tracks from soundcloud soon though.

I know Adam has given a nod to Paul Jones previously on the Forum. Here's a nice example by Paul of what you can do with just harp and handclaps. He reminds me a bit of Adam.

is there any difference other than words between "you gotta move" and "it hurts me too?"
