The Experience Hendrix tour has been around for a few years now. We saw some tremendous guitarists who aren't household names but are quite well known within the guitar community. The lineup even included Billy Cox for a few songs and that's as close to Hendrix as we're going to get. Tickets weren't inexpensive but there was good value particularly compared to the ticket prices commanded by stadium acts these days.

In Chicago, cover charge for a Friday or Saturday night show (main act plus a warm up band) at Buddy Guy's Legends is $20 each. Add some food and a few drinks and you are pushing $60-$80 for a couple for the evening, not counting feeding the meter outside. And if you don't get there early enough, you will have to stand. It doesn't sound like such a bad deal to me, especially since it isn't just one artist playing.

I went to this show several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Can't remember the exact line-up but most/all of the cats on the current bill were there. I seem to remember Hubert Sumlin and Brad Whitford (of Aerosmith fame) were on the bill.

Was a good show.
