Hey guys,

short question. The internet doesn't seem to have much love for the killswitch on the SM58S. I haven't read of anyone that actually managed to break one, but it's considered a pain in the but that can be operated during singing, can be forgotten, can kill a tweeter, and might be a liability.

The use I thought to see for it, is to kill the vocal mic during harp-solo's..... And to kill it while ajusting the mic, although the 58 might be pretty silent during handling?

What is your experience?

They're a giant pain in the butt. I jam at a location that uses them - the switch is hard to see and is very stiff. Of course you could attach a BlowsMeAway XLR volume control and have everything- the ability to turn the mic off, and the ability to adjust it between vocal and acoustic harp volume levels. No switch click, no blown tweets either.

OK. That was shameful self promotion...

These BlowsMeAway XLR volume controls are great! And the other musicians at blues jams will think it's cool too.

I can't live without Neutrick XLR on/off switch.

I'd be glad to use volume control on microphone, but I prefer electrovoice N/D967 and don't want to use in;ine one because of extra connection. I have volume control in my pedalboard.
