Appropos of some recent threads ,here's Christelle doing a slow blues(on Jasons rig i assume) Not only is it a showcase of her talent, she sounds great imo, but look at the tilt on her Harp.
Wow she can play. Yeah she has a tilt going there. I know a few players that tilt on some notes but not that much. Whatever she is doing it is working for her. I wonder if she is playing one of those Suzuki special 3 reed plate bender harps. On this song she sounds reminesent of Butterfield.
She's playing Seydel harps in this clips. This was made in Sacramento in 2009 at Jason Ricci's Blowoff (you can see him in the background during part of the clip).
At the time Christelle was a Seydel endorser and the Suzuki SUB30 (which has only two reedplates but 30 reeds) was still three years away from being introduced. ---------- Winslow
There is something about christelles phrasing i don't like. I don't think she is so good att swinging. When she plays blues it sounds fine.. Or better than many many people but her other songs sounds "dead". Don't get me wrong she masters the instrument like the top percent of harp players but it feels like she is woodsheding the wrong things.
