hey Ted, from my end the recording is clipping really strong. Hard to hear what is going on here. From what I can make out, sounds good. I think jinx was supplying the sarcasm?

Great idea, but I think you can lose the distortion and just go clean. Also maybe play some longer lines, not so busy.

Miles Davis "Sketches of Spain" is a good one to listen to for some phrygian ideas, among others.

I almost posted this video below yesterday as a world music jam example, but wasn't sure if people were into that sort of thing here.

This one seems to work well in 4th position on a C harp, Am. Nice lines to emulate on the harp.

Back to the vid. Liked it a lot. Always impressed by how laid back you seem, Ted, while producing a barrage of notes. You seem to be employing some kind of channelling process.

I saw these guys at the National Harmonica League's event in the UK last year. They are both members of the Barcelona Bluegrass Band, and play a lot of bluegrass numbers using the harmonica to play the fiddle parts.

He also said he mainly used country tuned harmonicas and lots of major pentatonic work.

This one has a bit more of a Spanish feel.

The Barcelona bluegrass band – Definite Spanish influence here too although more bluegrassy

There is some good stuff there. I've played with Spanish guitarist and like fall in e phrygian and it's minor and a touch of blues scale. I would say more melodic development and more patience in letting it unfold and be a witness to what comes out.

Here's something I did few years back. The harmonica part is improvised.

@TheoBurke: Have you tried recording with Audacity? It is, from the user-friendliness perspective, a nefarious piece of software -- but it would stuff like yours come across a bit more easily.

Here's a tune I wrote and played in E on a C harmonica, called Spanish Changes. It takes the 12-bar blues and replaces the IV chord (A) with the flat-IImaj7 chord (F) along with other substitutions.

nice diggs, something about an acoustic guitar and harp playing off each other really settles nice, and that one was a good one!
