I just picked up a Masco MU-5 also. Speaker was replaced so I tested it with a vintage Jensen alnico and a MojoTone ceramic I had on the shelf. Used the MojoTone, increased the volume and added some bark. I played through this for about an hour. With my spring reverb and a touch of delay it sounds terrific. Actually sounds terrific without any pedals. Not very loud, couldn't come close to matching the volume of my 1X8 and 1X10 Champ clones, but loud enough and less chimey with a smoother sound. The Champs really benefit from my Harpbreak pedal because they have no tone control. No real difference on the Masco, sounds full without it. Great studio or bedroom amp. Or, mic it. Oh yeah, this thing is tiny!
