Hello,

Just noticed that a 1960 Fender Bassman that reputedly belonged to and was played by Paul Butterfield is currently listed on eBay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/310784697933?

It certainly looks like a veteran.

appears to have a replaced '57 speaker with exact same specs.

the bottom right speakers is a p10Q
can't tell the others may be also.
it may have 3 p10r's and one p10Q

Many years ago, it seems Butterfield jumped both channels internally, so it's permanently high gain in the best way possible.
i am guessing he is using stock tubes also
may be a good question to ask.
you would think there would be more interest here
considering we are all a bunch of harp geeks

Q: what speakers are in there jensen p10r? jensen p10q?
A: This Bassman currently has (2) P10R speakers and (2) P10Qs, which leads me to believe that 2 have been replaced with exact era style Jensens, Hope that helps, -Guitar-Collector

i am getting my jensen back this week
they are being re-coned
i have 2 p10r's
and 2 p10q's
they will be replacing my mojo tones
sounds like my amp will be similar to butterfields

Where's the definitive proof that Butterfield owned it? Any pics of him playing it?

Not saying he's not reputable. Someone's word is not considered provenance.
Without a COA from his amp tech from that era and a pic of him using the amp, it means nothing.

Photos of the bassman Butter played whilst Davenport was in the band ('66) clearly show Fender casters fitted to the amp. That doesn't necessarily mean that this isn't "an amp" owned by Butterfield, but it's not promising regarding provenance for the amp he actually used live & for recordings up until this time.

There is also no reason to believe that Butter linked channels...nor that he personally had a preference for a 10K PI cathode resistor (20 times the factory value & not a value fitted to any stock bassman).
