This is a real blind spot in my music-knowledge so far. And as I'm guessing I'm not the only one, I thought I might start a topic about grooves.
We all know the shuffle. And can explain a guitar and drums what to do. But what about the other grooves (my examples would be non-systematic and therefore not very helpfull...)? Perhaps some of you can post examples with explanations, or perhaps Jason/Adam can do a vid as well? I would like to be able to tell the guitar-guy a bit more than I now can when calling a song, and would be very thankful for tips and pointers!

Have you checked out jimilee's 'every groove a blues man needs to know' CD? It's available as a download, comes with notes on the grooves. Not comprehensive, but not bad ----------

Bee is right, Jimi Lee's two cd set will help you to familiarize yourself with all the diiferent shuffle styles by name. It takes a real knowledgable drummer to know the most common grooves. There designed as jam tracks. The cd's demo approx 32 shuffles performed by a pro band. Highly recommend!
