Please excuse my ignorance, but I'm hoping for a little advice. Am I correct in thinking that the half valved 350 and the sub 30 both produce similar results but by different means. More precisely if I enjoy playing my 350v, and exploiting the easier bending options it produces, then the sub 30 ex reed allows the same using the same playing patterns, but achieves it's results by a different method.
I hope I've explained that properly!

That explanation isn't bad--but let me tell you what I know.
The valved harp gives you additional notes you couldn't create normally by valving off the second reed (as for example, blow 2 can be bent as there is a valve on draw 2, so you get the minor third--Eb on a C harmonica).
But those are single reed bends, which are less stable than double reed bends. The SUB30 has three reeds per hole, so those same bends are double reed bends--the same holes are valved, but there is a responder reed to help stabilize the bend--just like the XB-40. The difference is the form factor--the SUB30 is the same size as a normal diatonic.

Thanks for that. I'm thinking of Xmas.
