the past week I've been slowly working on my replacement cab project. finished the other day, emerald green tolex w/wheat grill. first thing i ever built, besides the tolex separating on the front a little, I think it came out pretty nice. I don't mind if it doesn't look perfect at least when pick it up I don't have to worry about the press board cab falling apart. The original smooth cone Utah speaker had choke cracks in the surround so i pulled it and tried 3 different speakers. Crex , a old cleavland and the ri p12q. none of them really sounded right in the amp. So after some research , I patched up the cracks and doped the surround with contact cement on the old utah and boom! shes screaming again! sounds terrific, crunchy tweed tone. How long the speaker will last I have no idea, but I'll just keep patching it up till no can anymore

Looks really nice. Now you should replace that 2-wire power cord with a 3-wire cord for safety.

Yea, 3 prong cord and a check up , did. Notice when transferring cabs there was no death cap and it had a grounding wire attached to one of the mounting studs on the bottom chasis stapled to to cab, it is a braided wire mesh like the from the old Shure brown bullet mic ground wire, so I know it was factory installed. I transferred it to new cab. But not sure if it's doing anything
