This doesn't seem to get a lot of attention. The Grandfather of this style seems to be George Harmonica Smith.
Dennis Gruenling is a current Chrom blues player.
Kim Wilson is another Chrom player.
Though this cut isn't your straight blues form the influence of the blues is all over this tune the way Adler plays it.
Toot does All Blues.

Thanks so much for putting that up Diggs! I've been playing the Chrom a lot lately and listen to a lot of George. I had not found that Greunling song.

George played tons of octaves on chromatics, plus he also played in 1st position as well wheras LW didn't do octaves, but 6ths and George was heavily influenced by Larry Adler. George has influenced many players with his chromatic playing.
Toots is still king of jazz chromatic. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte

Any conversation involving blues chromatic isn't complete without William Clarke who was arguably George Smiths best student. Here's a little taste of the late great man doing his thing.

Coming from a Master, I am humbled - thank you Sir...The Chrome is an "A", played in "B" :) - The tune was named after a member here, he gave me the harmonica and I dedicated that improvisation to him and his generosity :)

Willie Nelson's Harmonica player plays a mean chromatic. So did Little Walter. RIP. I hope hes playing Harp in heaven with Hendrix. Or hell hehehe.
