I just bought a mic and it has a switchcraft screw on connector and it looks a bit bigger than past mics i've owned with switchcraft screw on connectors.

Are there 2 different sizes?

can anyone recommend were i could find a good priced cable for one this?

There is a "mini" connector that's very rare, but the vast majority are 5/8inch diameter. Then there's the Hohner Roadhouse JT30, which is made cheaply and all components have been copied and reproduced by people who apparently don't know how to measure very accurately. That connector varies in size - not enough to see with the naked eye, but as much as .010" over the standard size, so that standard switchcraft connectors (on a 332 adapter, a cable or volume control) won't fit.

A standard Switchcraft screw-on connector measures 0.613" in diameter. The diameter of a dime is 0.705" so I think its a safe bet we're talking about the standard connector. The mini connector is significantly smaller - I don't have one to look at but if memory serves they're about 0.375".

There really is no such thing as a "332 cable". 332 is the Switchcraft part number for their screw-on to 1/4inch adapter. The connector that goes on a cable to mate with the male connector on a mic is called a 2501F.

I make cables. They aren't cheap. That's because there's a good deal of labor and cost in making them well. Cheap ones fail very quickly because there is no adequate strain relief that prevents the cable from twisting/spinning inside the spring, which, especially in the presence of unconscious coiling behavior, will lead to very early failure. I charge $25 + $1 per foot so a 20' cable is $45 - and I believe the other guys who know what they're doing (Chuck Gurney, Mark Overman, others) charge the same.

You'll find all this stuff on my web site…..
