There's been comments on here about people preferring the 1847 covers to the originals and wondered why that was? I was looking to buy a low D Steel and wondered if the more open covers of the 1847's would make harp louder or change the sound. I find the steel to be comfortable to play and wondered how the 1847 covers would change that. Thanks

i have them on most of mine they are great for tongue blocking it is not going to make your harmonica play any louder it will not change the tone. just a matter of what you are use to. you can try a set..see if you like them it's not like they will ever wear out. they are not that expensive. ----------
i get a lot of request when i play my harmonica "but i play it anyway"

I recently discovered that Seydel cover plates also fit Lee Oscars.

Thank you for the reply. By the time you buy new cover plates the price is about the same as the 1847's. Do you prefer the feel or sound of the recessed Session Steel or is the 1847 your harp of choice?

I actually sell the various covers for Seydel as options on any Seydel model I sell.
In my opinion, there is no real difference in sound and no real reason why they\re would be.
I have pictures on my web site of the various covers on different models. All Seydel covers are full interchangeable with all 10 hole models.
My personal favorite are the Solist Pro covers because they are narrower. However, these are more ideal for the higher range harps holes 1-2 draw reed strike would be a problem on anything lower than an (A). ---------- Greg Jones 16:23 Custom Harmonicas greg@1623customharmonicas.com 1623customharmonicas.com

What comb choices are available with the Session Steel? Not a big fan of the Stock Orange.

Comb color options for the recessed ABS Seydel Session/Session Steel are orange, white, black, and a few seasonal colors. White is most popular with my customers.
I offer comb color options as well as cover options.
I'm not a huge fan of orange, either.. but unfortunately the different color combs don't make me a better player.. :)

The steel is a great ootb harp the way it is, but it's nice to know that you can change it up a little if you choose. Thanks for the help.
