That looks like a very good price to me. ($650 as of now)

I know you like Mission amps, Rick, but how does the DT compare with a Delta Sonic?

There's no math for that, it's something you've got to decide for yourself. It looks to be in excellent shape but you'd be buying something it without a test drive. Of course you'd be doing the same thing if you buy one new for $1085, but that includes a warranty. What's your tolerance for risk? How much is that warranty worth to you? Yours are the only right answers, and you don't have to explain them to anybody.

Here's something worth knowing, from Brian's web site. He links to a video demo, but the link is broken.

***10/15/13***
Recently, we announced a new 15W amplifier coming soon. It is a 15W 2x8" amplifier with reverb. It is loosely based on a fender blackface princeton reverb amplifier. While I was in Clarksdale MS last month I had Deak Harp take it for a test spin. It will debut in carbon fiber tolex with a black faceplate and silver writing. The grillcloth will be a silver variant. I will be offering them for $1150 for the initial 10. After that they will go to $1250. I will be accepting preorders that will ship within 6 weeks of today. After the first batch of 10 are gone there will be a small delay while we wait for a restock on cabinets. They are tonally different then the Double Trouble and the circuit is entirely different. The tone of the new 15W amplifier is more distorted with a warmer bassier tone. It is much more Chicago blues if you will while the DT is a bit cleaner with a more rockin blues / Jason Ricci tone.

$1150 plus tax and delivery (almost $1300 in CA) for a 15W amp is really expensive, IMO.

The DT will likey sell for $700-$750

I agree John, that is expensive, but it's priced like most boutique amps. Brian doesn't build the amps so he's the middle man which usually means a higher price for the consumer.

No doubt the best harp amps for the money are the Missions partly because your buying directly from the builder.

$1300 for a handmade Princeton Reverb clone doesn't seem outrageous. Hell, I might swap my Mission Chicago for one.

John, the DT is a fine amp. I have played both but not side-by-side. My impression is that the DS amp has a bigger sound; the Lil Buddy speaker makes the difference. Both are excellent. The DT at $650 would be a very good deal.

Rick - I really dig my Mission Chicago and get some killer sounds out of it. I've always wanted a Princeton Reverb. I wish I would have snapped them up at $150 on the used market in the 1980's.

Joe, yep, vintage Princetons are great amps. I actually prefer the blackface Princeton non-reverb amp.

The Blackface Princeton Reverb is my all time favourite harp amp by a running mile. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat if I had the cash.
