   | I'm using a Bassman RI LTD, slightly modded. I was wondering which Weber speaker to use to replace only 2 of the stock Jensens at this time, due to monetary considerations. I would appreciate any and all suggestions. |

   | The one you want is the 10A125. The reissue Jensens are horrible and don't sound like the real deal and the Weber model I listed has it nailed. ----------

   | CTS speakers as well as Oxford speakers were often found in black face Fenders in the mid to late 60's and that's what that is and the ones for Fender were oten painted blue and these speakers were in th epre-CBS Super Reverb I used to own many years ago. ----------

   | @bbqbob, is it the 10A125-0 (the smooth cone with the felt cap or with an H-cap)? Which 10A125 would you recommend, ribbed cone or smooth?

   | The Weber 10A125-O speakers are good. I had two of them in my Bassman for a while, and now they are in a 2x10 cab.
The Webers are low sensitivity (not all that loud and punchy) and they compress a lot, which can be a good thing depending upon your preference. The Eminence speakers are much louder and deeper than the Webers or Jensens. Lots of bottom end and thump. The other two speakers in the Bassman are the original blue alnicos.

The "best" speaker really depends on what you want out of the amp.

   | I haven't played with lots of 10" speakers, but I put a 10A125-O in my Princeton Reverb and it was an improvement over the original. I can't say its best, but it's acceptable to me. I'm not sure Webers' "H" cap makes much difference. Supposed to take the edge off the highs I think.

   | The "H" dustcap does not really work to reduce feedback.
1847 - National Speaker in Denver is also good. I've had them re-cone several speakers. I am happy with the results.

   | i Would like to try the 10A125-O. I have a weber sig 8" in my champ. I love the sound of it. I use the lone wolf tone control, crank the bass the minimize the treble. It's sounding real old school. I also have a 32-20 mission that I like with a Lil buddy 10" and a Jensen p10Q. I am thinking of giving the weber a try the 10A125-O (felt dustcap) to complement the Lil Buddy. I will be selling a jensen p10R that i have in my kalamazoo. I liked it but I liked the 50's jensen p10S smooth cone felt cap better which was in the amp. It has better break-up.

   | As Little Rick sayed, depends on what you like. Smooth, light weight, cones give you speaker breakup at lower V. Ribbed cones hold together better. The center of the cone and dust cap gives you the highs. That is why the H cap, which is actually fine screen, is basicly transparent sonicly. It is not generating sound. If you want more clean bass, I like the Ragin Cajun. It is loud and may over power lesser speakers. If you want to stay with the tone of the older Eminence 102's, as Fender used in the older Bassman RI's, go with the Weber 10A125 or 12F125. I prefer the ceramic version myself.
I am not a fan of speaker breakup, I prefer power tube distortion but that is just me...BN

   | Thanks guys, I pretty much need to go with the webers for now, since I'm on social sec. I thought I'd go with 10A125's 1 ribbed, 1 smooth, with H cap. I got homemade beam blockers intherealready. Just want to smooth out the tone a little and add some bottom, as the Jensens are kinda harsh. I've got a Yinv1, 5751in v2, andaY in PI. Also using a Boss overdrive, so old icantevenfind a picture online, and an ART tube MP, sometimes both, and a DanElectro BLT slap echo. Can get about the same sound at any volume |

   | That under 40 dollar price is way tempting. Years ago when asked how Igot that sound, I'd say never pay more than 50 bucks for an amp and 5 bucks for a mic, Ha!. Nowadays I say I can make any amp sound like a transistor radio. I love this site.Ive learned more in1 year here than in the other 49 years. It's awesome that harp has achieved such worldwide popularity. Tons of killer players out there thanks again |

   | King, I don't understand. You say you will go with the Webers (very good speakers) because they cost less? They are $98. The Lil Buddies are $82.

   | I guess I'm looking at the wrong ones. The weber site shows the Signature series 10's at 37.50. Last time I checked, about 6 mos ago, the signatures were the more expensive ones. Obviously, I need to look again. Maybe it's a misprint or something. |

   | Oh, the Weber Sig 10 speakers.... I have not tried them in a Bassman, but I have in other amps, including the Fender Pro Jr. They might sounds good in the big amp.

   | Be extremely careful with reconed Jensens because over the years, I've stayed away from them because often times the people doing them will not use the correct paper, voice coils, glue and glueing technique and it will have a very negative effect and sound totally different than what a real, unmessed around Jensen sounds like. ----------
