I'm rolling up the road and listening to this CD noticing little things that I'd never tuned into before. You know, little triplet moves like going from the 2 draw bent and sustained to a 1 draw, 2 blow, 2 draw triplet. The more I listened the more I noticed, I don't know why. And then I got to thinking about why I first bought a Little Walter CD. It had nothing to do with his harp playing but I wanted to learn his version of Help Me so I could sing it and play the Bass part. And then I got to thinking about other harp greats, and other greats period. I came to the conclusion that successful artists are successful for their singing not their instrument at all. What else do you have to do at 4 in the morning driving up the interstate but think and talk to yourself.

My bad, My Babe was why I first bought his music in order to learn his version. Help Me is why I first bought Sonny Boy's music and for the same reason; not for his harp playing.
